कवी माधव यांच्या कवितेतील नंदनवनात वसलेले एक नितांत सुंदर ठिकाण म्हणजेच गणपतीपुळे! कोकण किनारपट्टीवरील डोंगराच्या पायथ्याशी असलेले जागृत व स्वयंभू श्री गणेश मंदिर. कोकणातील ३००-४०० वर्षाची परंपरा असलेले महत्त्वाचे तीर्थक्षेत्र. भारतातील अष्टद्वारदेवतांपैकी हि पश्चिमद्वार देवता. समोर क्षितीजापर्यंत पसरलेला निळाशार समुद्र, पांढरी शुभ्र वाळू, सभोवतीचा हिरवा निसर्ग आणि त्यावर कळस म्हणजे गुलाबी रंगातील सुंदर गणेश मंदिर. अशी रंगांची मुक्तहस्ते उधळण असलेला हा परिसर मला नेहमीच आकर्षित करत असे आणि त्याचबरोबर मला आणखी एक गोष्ट खुणावत असे ती म्हणजे "प्राचीन कोकण-५०० वर्षापूर्वीचे कोकण" अशी जाहिरात असलेला एक बोर्ड. त्यामुळे ह्या वेळेच्या गणपतीपुळ्याच्या भेटीत प्राचीन कोकण करायचे असे ठरविले आणि तसा योग लवकरच जुळून आला.
